What would be the night without humans? … What would we be if we can’t share our amazement at being in front of billions of stars and able to reflect our place in the immense universe?
Marambio Base is a permanent, all year-round Argentine Antarctic research base located in Marambio Island, Antarctic Peninsula, about 60 miles (100 km) from the coastal civilian village of Esperanza.
At the time of its construction, in 1969, it was the first airfield in Antarctica, and is still one of the most frequently used ones due to its suitability for wheeled landing, for which it is called “Antarctica’s Entrance Door” (Spanish: Puerta de Entrada a la Antártida).
