If only GOD controls the climate, then drill baby drill … even if the climate is changing … because GOD!
“In case we have forgotten, because we keep hearing that 2014 has been the warmest year on record, I ask the chair, do you know what this is,” Inhofe said to Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), who was presiding over the Senate’s debate, as he removed the snowball from a plastic bag.
“It’s a snowball. And it’s just from outside here. So it’s very, very cold out. Very unseasonable.”
And to make sure no more pesky science gets in the way of GOD’s … er … GOP’s desire to burn baby burn (coal, that is), the GOP control U.S. House voted this week to slash NASA’s climate research funding.
The House Committee on Science, Space and Technology’s “measure would cut NASA’s Earth science budget to at most $1.45 billion in fiscal 2016, from $1.77 billion currently — a cut of $323 million, or nearly 20 percent. … The budget plan perfectly reflects the House GOP’s glorification of space exploration, which masks its disdain for research on climate change,” writes the LA Times.
I mean, it’s a waste of money after all since ONLY GOD CAN CONTROL THE CLIMATE.
“Climate is changing and climate has always changed and always will,” Oklahoma Senator Jim Inhofe, chair of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, said in a recent address to the Senate. “The hoax is that there are some people who are so arrogant to think they are so powerful they can change climate. Man can’t change climate.” Inhofe has been arguing for years that only God and His natural works—not the activities of humankind—can affect the climate. “[M]y point is, God’s still up there. The arrogance of people to think that we, human beings, would be able to change what He is doing in the climate is to me outrageous,” he said in a 2012 address given to a Voice of Christian Youth America radio program. And in his theological belief that the environment is outside of humanity’s control, Inhofe is not alone.
And for that matter, how about we eliminate research into and rules governing the economy? Check.
product safety? Hey, if GOD wants you to eat lead, then you’ll eat lead. If not, you won’t and the government is wasting time trying to interfere with GOD’s will.
Drop government oversight of labor rights? No brainer.
But, I digress and you get the point.
Belittling human attempts to control anything (except teachers, sex, marriage, immigration and drugs) will always end with a pitiful waste of money and lost opportunity for young workers (who don’t need a living wage).
But, hey, maybe we misjudge the sincerity.
